I took this shot in 2007 when Izu, San Diego Zoo Safari Park's lion was 3 years old. He was my favorite subject at the park. Izu died a few years ago in 2022. I was recently going through some photos and came across this shot. Rest in peace Izu.

On this visit, armed with my big 400, I was blessed with Izu looking majestic as he was positioned perfectly on top of the land rover. This type of shot really doesn't get much better than this. Izu died in May 2022. RIP Izu. |
